A：Who do you think are best，Ruth or Rose?

B：I think Rose is smarter，I think Rose is best.

Good morning，ladies and gentlemen. I’m XX candidate，applying for junior middle school English teacher. My topic is Rose is smarter than Ruth. Let me start off reading the dialogue… Now class begins.

Ⅰ.Warming-up

T：Hello，boys and girls. I want to ask you a question. What did you do during your weekend?Who want to have a try?Volunteer?

T：Oh，you went to the zoo?So what animals did you see in the zoo?Can you describe the features of animals in the zoo?

T：Ok，great!Now you can guess today our topic is：Rose is smarter than Ruth.

Ⅱ.Presentation

T：Now I want to invite you to fill the following blanks using the right words.

Elephant is _____(big/small).

Squirrel is _____(big/small).

T：Well done!Clever guys!Ready?I am going to play a tape and ask you some questions.

Q1：What are the features of Rose and Ruth?

T：Yes，Rose is smarter than Ruth.

Q2：What are the characteristics of Ruth and Rose?

T：Yeah，Ruth is more outgoing than Rose.

T：Yes，you made it!Very good!And you are invited to underline the adjective and answer my question：what are the similarities between the sentences and the adjectives?

T：I’m so proud of you guys. All of the sentences are started with “more … than”. This is the grammar that we are going to learn today—comparative degree.

T：From the above studying，we can conclude the usage of the comparative degree. And its form is usually the adjective+er，if the word is a multisyllable word ，we always plus the word “more” or “less” in front of the adjectives.

Ⅲ.Practice

T：OK，guys. Now I want to invite you to take part in a guessing game. I act and you guess the meaning of the words，ready?Let’s go!

T：I think now all of you have grasped the usage of comparative degree. Next，I will write some sentences on the blackboard and you should fill in the blank using the comparative degree form of adjective.

Ⅳ.Summary and Homework

T：After today’s studying，I think all of you have grasped the usage of comparative degree. I would like to ask somebody to conclude the content of the lesson. Who wants to have a try?Oh，Mary，please.

1.Yes，in my opinion，I think it is very important to teach students the pronunciation. There are at least three reasons as followings：First，as a kind of basic knowledge of learning English，learners must be guided by the understanding of the pronunciation;Second，as we all know，there are many students who cannot speak English fluently because of their lacking in the pronunciation practice;Last but not the least，according to the new curriculum standard and the new curriculum reform，we teachers should pay more attention to the pronunciation learning. Therefore，as far as I am concerned，it is very important to teach students the pronunciation.

2.Yes，I am major in English in a normal school. Since I can have a better understanding of different cultures and histories in different countries，I love my major very much. Therefore，I have grasped the basic knowledge of teaching English after the 4-year study.

During my college life，I worked as an English teacher in a middle school. From that，I found teaching teenagers English is very interesting but it is also challenging. As they are always active，even sometimes very naughty，teachers need a lot of patience to deal with teenagers. The most important thing I have learnt from my teaching experience is that a teacher should have the kind of the mind that always wants to go on learning. Teaching is a job at which one will never be perfect.

In the future，I am sure I can qualify what I have learned to my teaching career.
